The Opportunity

A fabulous opportunity for a Health and Safety Specialist to join a fantastic team. You will be responsible for promoting a culture of safety excellence and wellbeing. You will drive and support the implementation of the company and Health Strategies in accordance with the company’s frameworks and Queensland legislation. This role is specific to Outages and the AMA Alliance program, however, will be required to provide broader site health and safety support as required and determined by the operational demands of the business.

You will be a key person in the Health and Safety team to support culture transformation through to world class safety performance.

About You

This position may require travel interstate and intrastate as required to attend workshops, meeting conferences, training courses and to provide technical support to the company. flexible hours as required to meet the business needs.

  • Degree qualification or equivalent in health and safety or relevant field
  • Current training in alcohol and other drug testing would be an advantage
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessing would be an advantage
  • A current Senior First Aid Officer certificate would be an advantage
  • Current Rehabilitation and Return to work Coordinator qualifications would be an advantage
  • Experience in a similar role (3+ Years) with a safety focus would be an advantage
  • Experience in working within a construction and power station environment or similar would be an advantage
  • Experience in supporting and managing investigations would be advantageous
  • Experience in achieving outcomes in a multi-disciplinary team of professionals
  • Previous experience in developing and implementing effective change management strategies and risk management
  • Experience in delivering business plans, improvement measurement and gains
  • Current Driver’s License
  • Travel to the company sites will be required
  • Excellent understanding of relevant Health and Safety legislative requirements, standards and practices
  • Strong influencing and negotiating skills
  • Highly developed relationship and rapport building skills
  • Ability to take proactive action to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of organisational safety and risk management processes and execution of those processes
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight timelines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
