About the role

We are seeking an experienced 2IC Retail Butcher to join our team at MEAT ON SHAKESPEARE in Mackay, QLD. This is a full-time position that will see you play a key role in our busy retail butcher shop, assisting the Head Butcher in all aspects of the business.

What you'll be doing

  • Assisting the Head Butcher in the day-to-day operations of the retail butcher shop

  • Cutting, preparing and packaging a wide variety of meats to the highest standards

  • Providing excellent customer service and advice to our customers

  • Maintaining a clean, safe and well-organised work environment

  • Helping to train and supervise junior team members

  • Ordering stock and managing inventory levels

  • Assisting with the overall management of the retail butcher shop

What we're looking for

  • A minimum of 2-4 years' experience as a qualified retail butcher

  • Strong knowledge of meat cuts, handling and preparation techniques

  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to provide expert advice to customers

  • Proficient in the use of butchery equipment and tools

  • A keen eye for detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • The ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
