About the Role

We are seeking a talented Financial Accountant with hands-on Financial accounting experience who is excited to play a pivotal role in Mackay Sugar’s success. In this dynamic position, you will split your time between Risk reporting and core financial responsibilities, including financial statement preparation and treasury support.

This is a permanent part-time position, working 5–6 hours per day, 5 days a week. It’s a great opportunity to be challenged and remain in the workforce in a part-time capacity.

As a minimum you will hold

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CA/CPA preferred).
  • 5+ years of financial experience; international tax and derivatives exposure is a plus.
  • A keen interest in financial reporting and the drive to improve financial systems and processes.
  • An eye for detail is critical.
  • Strong knowledge of financial systems, accounting principles, and statutory compliance.
  • Proactive, driven, and eager to contribute to business improvements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and collaborate across departments.

 Duties and Responsibilities

  • Risk Management: Lead the preparation of daily risk reports related to our sugar pricing using assorted derivatives.
  • Support Transition: Assist with the transition to S4/Hana with go live 1 March 2026.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and review financial derivatives and manage back-office accounting.
  • Statutory Compliance: Ensure financial systems comply with regulatory requirements.
  • Audit: Assist with audits both internal and external.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously seek ways to enhance financial systems and processes for efficiency.
