About this opportunity:
This position is integral to the administration and maintenance of our financial systems, ensuring seamless support for Council's financial operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer and maintain Council's financial systems to support operational efficiency.
- Provide expert guidance on financial software and its application to enhance financial operations.
- Assist in budgeting, project costing, and financial reporting.
- Interpret and apply accounting standards, policies, and legislation to Council's operations.
- Contribute to project management and financial management activities.
Essential Qualifications, Experience & Skills:
- Tertiary qualifications in Business, Finance, Commerce, or Accounting (or equivalent) or currently studying towards completion.
- Eligibility for membership with the Australian Society of Certified Practising Accountants (CPA) or Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ).
- Practical experience in a similar role with demonstrated knowledge of accounting systems, computer programs, and concepts.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an ability to apply accounting standards and legislation.
- Proven experience in financial management accounting, including budgeting and project costing.
- Knowledge or experience in project management is highly desirable.
