Community Solutions are seeking candidates that are interested in commencing a Diesel Fitting Apprenticeship based in Mackay. This is a great full-time opportunity for candidates who have the dedication to complete a 4-year apprenticeship (MEM31419) with a large company that provides various services both locally and interstate, including plant hire. With over 100 machines in the fleet, specialising in road construction in QLD & NSW, the successful candidate will get a great range of experience throughout their apprenticeship.

If you have a passion to work with plant machinery such as excavators, articulated dump trucks, skid steer loaders and rollers including rigid body tip trucks to semi tippers and floats, then this is an opportunity not to miss! The candidate must have strong knowledge and passion to work with heavy vehicles.  

THE APPRENTICESHIP WILL INVOLVE:    

  • Service and repair mechanical parts
  • Discussing problems with drivers to discover faults and diagnostic procedures
  • Repair service engines, cooling systems, exhaust systems, diesel fuel systems
  • Repair manual and automatic transmissions, braking systems, hydraulic systems & final drive assemblies
  • Duties will take place in workshop that is noisy, hot and dusty
  • Daily physical exertion such as bending, twisting, climbing, lifting, pulling or pushing heavy materials
  • Ability to use hand and power tools, drills and drilling machines  

REQUIREMENTS:    

  • Must have manual drivers’ licence
  • Construction Safety White Card (or willing to obtain)
  • Understand the importance of workplace health and safety
  • Have good communication skills
  • Enjoy practical work
  • Have good hand-eye coordination
  • Pre-employment Medical and Aptitude testing 
  • A cert II in Engineering or Automotive would be highly regarded

Community Solutions is a non-for-profit organisation operating as a commercial business, providing apprentices and trainees to a variety of different businesses throughout Queensland. We provide apprentices and trainees important career guidance and opportunity to earn while they learn. Dedicated Field Officers are assigned to apprentices and trainees to provide ongoing support to completing their chosen trade qualification.
