Arborist Botanic Gardens

Council is seeking to appoint a permanent full time Arborist Botanic Gardens to contribute to Council’s success.

About the Role

The purpose of this position is to deliver quality arboriculture and horticulture services to the living collections, horticultural displays and event spaces to ensure Tondoon Botanic Gardens (TBG) tree assets are maintained to a high standard. It also provides assistance to the various scientific, cultural, educational and promotional activities at the Gardens and all the community groups involved.

You will bring:

  • Certificate III in Arboriculture and relevant experience, knowledge and skills to undertake the range of responsibilities required of the position.

  • Demonstrated high level understanding, skills and experience in the practical application of best practice arboriculture principles within high profile/high-visitation public green space.

  • Demonstrated experience in tree management for longevity and effective risk management, including the ability to undertake tree assessments, recommend treatment programs and record data.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team and independently.

  • Sound communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficient keyboard skills and experience using Microsoft Office Suite and operating corporate business systems.

  • Legally able to drive a motor vehicle in Queensland.

This position requires immunisation against Hepatitis A/B and Tetanus.
