Parliamentary Services is seeking a full-time Assistant Electorate Officer to join Mr Glenn Butcher Member for Gladstone.

About the role

We are looking for a highly motivated professional with exceptional skills in digital communications to assist in providing high quality representation to the constituents of Gladstone.

The key duties of the position include:

  • First point of contact for all media enquiries.
  • Organise and create media opportunities and schedule proactive media placements.
  • Develop and manage a strategic and targeted communications plan.
  • Prepare media releases, opinion pieces, newsletters and other publications.
  • Manage social media platforms and website content. 
  • Develop and manage advertising campaigns including traditional, digital and video content. 
  • Build relationships with media stakeholders and personnel.
  • Assist with events and activities across the electorate as required. 
  • Assist with constituent casework.
  • Other various duties as directed by the Member.

About you

The ideal applicant should possess the following skills and experience:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills including speech writing.
  • Team-orientated with a strong sense of loyalty and collaboration.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Proficient in office IT systems, including word processing, spreadsheets and data applications.
  • Ability to prioritise and manage competing tasks, meeting deadlines effectively.
  • Positive, proactive attitude, with the ability to work autonomously and take initiative. 
  • Experience in videography, photography and digital media (including social media including graphics and editing).
  • An understanding of Queensland's system of government and parliamentary processes is beneficial but not essential.
