THE ROLE
Position: Bus Driver
Employment Type: Permanent Part Time – Term Time
Hours of Work: 20 hours per week
Commence: 19 January 2026
Hours of work are 6.30am - 8.30am & 2.45pm - 4.45pm Monday to Friday. Hours can be subject to change depending on student pick ups. A 15% allowance is applied to Broken Shift hours.
Some additional hours are required over the school holiday periods for mandatory training and other requirements. Additional hours will be scheduled in advance.
Weekend work is paid at Overtime rates and is also an option to help drive our Boarding Students to and from Boarding activities.
POSITION OBJECTIVE
Rockhampton Girls Grammar Schools Bus Drivers are responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of students to and from school according to the daily schedule. The Bus Driver must ensure that the school bus is always in a good operating condition and cleanliness maintained. The Bus Driver must maintain order and security on the bus and obey all laws, traffic regulations and the Schools Code of Conduct.
COMMUNITY RESPONSIBILITY
The Bus Driver, when dealing with the community, must act courteously and respectfully. This includes if the Bus Driver receives a complaint regarding bus schedules or the quality of service being provided. The school Bus Driver must report all complaints to the Transport Manager and/or Facilities and Services Manager.
EXPECTED KNOWLEDGE, ATTRIBUTES AND COMPETENCIES

Knowledge of highway and school bus regulations.

Experience in dealing with children including those with specials needs.

Experience in record keeping systems, scheduling systems and procedures.

Knowledge of plant equipment cleaning standards and procedures for buses.

Analytical problem-solving skills with strong organisational and time management skills.

Strong cultural awareness.

Demonstrated sound work ethic with strong verbal and written communication skills.
-
Outstanding interpersonal skills, with a proven capacity to cooperate and work positively with students and staff.

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS
Promote Rockhampton Girls Grammar School inside and outside the school community.
The successful application is required to:

possess a current Blue Card from the Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian or has the ability to obtain;

hold a current MR or HR Licence; and
-
hold a current Driver Authorisation or ability to obtain.
