About the role

Northern Queensland Primary Health Network (NQPHN) is seeking four proactive and adaptable Business Support Officers (BSOs) to join our dynamic team in Cairns, Townsville, and Mackay with at least one position based in each location. In this vital role, you will support the smooth operation of one of our directorates and play an important part in ensuring day-to-day office functions run efficiently. From stakeholder engagement to event coordination and site administration, your contribution will help foster a collaborative and high-performing workplace culture.

You’ll also be a key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, providing outstanding administrative support and ensuring your local office site is operating at its best.

What you'll do

As a Business Support Officer, you will:

  • Deliver high-quality administrative support to a nominated directorate and ensure seamless day-to-day operations at your office site.

  • Manage office services including reception, mail, stationery, catering, shared spaces, and fleet and facility management.

  • Provide secretariat support—preparing agendas, taking minutes, and maintaining action registers.

  • Assist with onboarding new employees through site inductions.

  • Support event and stakeholder engagement activities, including scheduling, logistics, and materials preparation.

  • Maintain business systems and ensure quality data entry and compliance across platforms such as our CRM and contract management systems.

  • Undertake financial tasks such as invoice processing, credit card reconciliation, and contract administration.

  • Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives and provide leave relief to the broader admin team as needed.

Key selection criteria

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • At least two years of experience in a similar administrative support role.

  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with a professional, team-focused approach.

  • Well-developed written communication skills, including experience preparing agendas, minutes, and professional correspondence.

  • Confidence using the Microsoft Office suite and ability to quickly adapt to new systems.

  • Excellent time management, problem-solving, and organisational skills.

  • A high level of accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of your work.
