Mercy Food Services is excited to offer multiple opportunities for Chefs to join our team at Mater Rockhampton, with both permanent and casual roles available.
Reporting to the Head Chef, this key role involves delivering safe, nutritious, and high-quality food to all customers while meeting tasks and deadlines within the required timeframes.
Salary range: $33.19 - $34.67(Operational Level 3) per hour, plus 11.5% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
Your duties will include:
- Under the guidance of the Head Chef, prepare and cook main meals/desserts and vegetables as per recipes and daily production schedule
- Complete traditional and Kettle food preparation, cooking and chilling of products as per daily production requirements
- Portion and label product before cooking/ chilling and distribution
- Prepare and complete documentation relating to Safe Food Production as per the Food Safety Plan documentation
- Assist with Recipe Development
- Assist and guide workplace Trainees/Apprentices as required
- Conduct daily kitchen environmental cleaning
- Accept, adhere and promote Workplace Health and Safety requirements, appropriate standards and risk management guidelines to ensure health and safety obligations are met to maintain a safe working environment
About you
To be successful in this role you will possess:
- TAFE qualified Catering/Cooking certificate or equivalent
- Knowledge of Cook/Chill processes
- Demonstrated experience in bulk food preparation, including vegetable and dessert cooking
- Ability to read, follow and understand recipes, recipes methods and products being utilised for production
- Demonstrated knowledge of Food Safety (HACCP) Principles
- An ability to achieve goals and objectives with minimal supervision
- Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills
Desirable:
- Certificate in occupational hygiene
- Previous catering experience in a Health or Aged Care organisation
- Experience with cook/chill processes
