What's on offer?
The Civil Construction Technician position is responsible for monitoring asphalt compaction. This position will also perform coring of the asphalt and testing. This position is full-time, requires regular travel, night work and weekends through peak season.

As part of this role, you will have the opportunity to learn and develop on the job whilst studying to obtain your Cert IV in Civil Construction. You will be responsible for:

  • Communicating with the Site Engineer and Supervisor for daily duty assignments
  • Work with asphalt paving foreman and roller operators on roller patterns to achieve optimum compaction through use of a Pavement Quality Indicator (PQI)
  • Troubleshoot, identify, correct and prevent quality control issues
  • Perform field testing
  • Quality Control reporting and record keeping
  • Core asphalt for density testing
  • Additional duties as assigned by management, as this job description is non-exhaustive
  • Willingness to perform duties outside normal scope of work (i.e. work in poor weather conditions or outside normal hours)

Previous experience in a production environment with asphalt is highly desired but not crucial. The ideal candidate will have the following attributes:

To be successful in this position you will require the following skills/experience;

  • Have a construction induction card (White Card) - not essential
  • Possess a strong commitment to safety
  • Possess a current drivers' license
  • Possess strong written and oral communication skills
  • Basic knowledge with technology
