Civil construction workers - Plant operators, Pipe Layers, Labourers

About the role

We are seeking experienced civil construction workers to join our team at Hill Earthmoving & Civil Pty Ltd in Rockhampton, Queensland. This is a full-time opportunity to contribute to the success of major civil infrastructure projects in the region. HEC is currently looking for Multi-Skilled operators, Pipe Layers/Civil Plumbers and Labourers to assist in the construction of self-performed contracts in the CQ region.

What you'll be doing

• Plant Operators: Operate the following equipment

  • Grader - GPS/UTS (Must be proficient in both)

  • Excavator - Final Trim/GPS, earthworks and drainage

  • Trucks - Body Tippers, Truck and dogs, Semi (float/drop deck) and water trucks

  • Rollers - Padfoot and Smooth Drum

  • Loaders, Dozers and other earthmoving machinery

• Pipe Layers - Proficient in the following

  • Stormwater pipe installation

  • Sewer pipe installation

  • Pit and manhole construction

  • Concreting

  • Read/Interpret plans, Take levels

  • Install shoring as per engineering

• Perform general labouring duties including site preparation, manual handling, assisting pipe crews and operating civil equipment

• Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols and environmental regulations

• Collaborate with the wider construction team to deliver high-quality civil infrastructure projects

What we're looking for

• Proven experience as a plant operator, pipe layer, or general construction labourer in the civil construction industry

• People who are able to work in team environments as well as work individually with project requirements

• Tickets supporting the role you are applying for including: Plant competencies, safety tickets, trade/qualifications, first aid & CPR training, Construction Induction card and high-risk work licences

• A proven track record of operating and maintaining civil equipment

• Strong understanding of civil construction methods, processes, and safety requirements

• Ability to work effectively in a team and adapt to changing site conditions
