We are seeking a dedicated Clinical Psychologist/MH Social Worker or OT to join our team on a contract basis. As a Mental Health Clinician, you will play a vital role in supporting the mental health and wellbeing of our patients. This is a unique opportunity to work in a private hospital setting, providing individualised care and evidence-based psychological interventions. The role is based in Mackay, QLD 4740.

The Opportunity: (Role overview)

  • Facilitate Day Programs for three days a week at Mackay Private Hospital.
  • Engage with patients across different age groups, delivering therapeutic programs.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of these programs.
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team focused on day patient mental health.
  • Potential to operate a supported private practice within the hospital setting.
  • Facilitate group therapy sessions, specifically Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), as well as other therapeutic programs.

Essential Qualifications & Skills:

  1. Psychology Qualifications:
    • Accredited undergraduate degree in Psychology.
    • APHRA registered
    • Unrestricted general registration with the Psychology Board of Australia.
    • Graduates will be considered
  2. Experience:
    • Experience in facilitating group therapy sessions, especially CBT and DBT.
    • Experience in planning, organizing, and delivering skills-based groups.
  3. Other Skills:
    • Training and experience facilitating group therapy such Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy. (desirable)
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to work autonomously and manage time efficiently while being part of a multidisciplinary team.
    • Creativity and flexibility in delivering therapy content.
    • High level of organizational skills, capable of managing a complex therapeutic environment.
    • Familiarity with Microsoft Suite.

  1. Facilitate Group Therapy:
    • Lead therapy groups using CBT and DBT methods.
    • Engage patients in learning and practicing new skills for managing mental health.
    • Customize content delivery to meet patient needs and ensure effective participation.
  2. Program Development:
    • Participate in the ongoing development of therapeutic programs.
    • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure programs align with the needs of the patient group.
  3. Administrative Responsibilities:
    • Keep clear and accurate records of group participation, progress, and outcomes.
