Council is seeking to appoint casual co-operative Engineering Students to contribute to Council’s success.

About the Opportunity

Our Co-operative Engineering student program is designed to provide university students studying their 2nd year onwards an opportunity to gain valuable hands-on work experience in a local government setting. 

  • Learn from multi-skilled and specialist PhD qualified Engineers.
  • Apply your theoretical learnings from university to real projects in a broad range of engineering fields including stormwater, mechanical, structural, roads, water, planning and civil.
  • Work up to full time hours earning $42.57 per hour (inclusive of casual loading), plus superannuation.
  • Co-operative Engineering students are a key part of our pipeline into the graduate program, providing a pathway to potential ongoing employment.

You will bring:

  • Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) or currently undertaking Bachelor of Engineering studies.
  • Awareness of legislation, guidelines and standards relevant to the position.
  • Analytical, problem solving, and negotiation skills to effectively resolve issues/matters in the workplace.
  • Ability to conduct a range of investigative/assessment duties and apply problem solving techniques.
  • Ability to comprehend and provide written reports relevant to the position.
  • Current Work Safely in the Construction Industry (White Card).
