About the Position
An excellent opportunity has become available for Casual Laboratory Coal Quality Testers to work in the Analytical Laboratory, at our Mackay site. We are looking for suitably qualified coal laboratory technicians and in-experienced members wanting a career change into laboratory work.
Position Synopsis
Reporting to the Analytical Laboratory Supervisor, the position requirements include but are not limited to:
- Ensuring that all work is carried out in a safe & efficient manner and to agreed standard operating instructions.
- Ensuring that all work complies with National & International standards.
- Checking & validating all results to ensure that they are within repeatability tolerances.
- Enter validated results into the reporting system.
- Maintain the laboratory and its equipment according to company standards.
- Make recommendations on ways of improving the efficiency & accuracy of sample analysis.
- A range of analytical tests including Proximate Analysis, Crucible Swell Number, ICP, XRF Total Sulphur, Calorific Value and trace analysis.
- The ability to work early mornings and afternoon shifts.
- Laboratory skills in any industry is preferred but not essential.
Requirements
Full training will be provided to successful candidates. However, to be considered for this position, you will have:
- A strong focus on safety, quality and teamwork.
- Strong numeracy and literacy skills.
- Good grasp of computers/technology including spreadsheets.
- Comfortable with manual handling duties.
- Ability to work to a flexible roster.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Competent within a strong safety culture.
As part of the selection process, a pre-employment medical exam is required; including a drug and alcohol assessment.
