Community & Stakeholder Engagement Lead (2-Year FTC)

Location: Regional Queensland
Employment Type: Full-time, Fixed Term (24 months)

About the Role We are seeking a Community & Stakeholder Engagement Lead to support the delivery of a major renewable energy construction project in regional Queensland. This role will act as the key interface between the project, local community members and regional councils.

The ideal candidate will have strong local government or council experience, a solid understanding of community expectations in regional areas, and a proven ability to manage engagement during construction activities. This is a practical, on-the-ground role where you will be the “face of the project” for nearby communities.

Key Responsibilities Community & Stakeholder Management
• Serve as the primary point of contact for local residents, landholders and community groups
• Respond to enquiries, feedback and complaints in a timely and professional manner
• Identify emerging issues early and work with the project team to address them
• Prepare and deliver site updates, notices and clear communication materials

Council & Government Engagement
• Build productive relationships with local councils, planners and regional government stakeholders
• Support discussions related to project conditions, community impacts, access, traffic and construction activities
• Attend council and stakeholder meetings as required

Construction Interface
• Liaise closely with on-site contractors to understand upcoming works and anticipate impacts to the community
• Coordinate between construction teams and external stakeholders to minimise disruptions
• Provide ongoing updates to the project team on community sentiment, issues and risks

Project Communications
• Draft accessible, plain-language communications for residents and stakeholders
• Support community drop-in sessions, information sessions and engagement activities
• Maintain accurate records of all engagement, commitments and follow-ups

About You
• Strong council or local government experience (essential)
• Proven background in community engagement or stakeholder management, ideally on infrastructure or construction projects
• Confident managing difficult conversations and sensitive issues
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – calm, diplomatic and solutions-focused
• Comfortable working independently in regional areas
• Preferred experience working on renewable energy, utilities or major project environments
