About Us:
Bidgerdii Community Health Service is an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community controlled primary health care service, operating in the Rockhampton and Central Queensland region for close to 30 years. The organisation is a bulk billing community-controlled health service, managed by a Board of Directors who oversee and manage the strategic directions of the service.
Bidgerdii provides comprehensive primary health and well-being services to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community in the Rockhampton and surrounding regions. Bidgerdii collaborates with health and well-being partner agencies to enable integrated continuity of care for the community and continue to work to contribute to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health policy and program reform in Queensland.
About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Computer Network and Systems Engineer to join our dynamic team. The role will be responsible for providing technical support, troubleshooting, and maintaining computer systems and networks across all departments. This role requires a strong understanding of IT infrastructure, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a customer-oriented approach. This includes:
- Research new technologies, install, configure, monitor, and maintain computer networks, hardware, software, and peripherals to ensure optimal performance.
- Offering expert skills to troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network issues promptly.
- Provide technical support and guidance to end-users, ensuring efficient system usage.
- Manage and maintain systems and network infrastructure by closely monitoring. Recommending improvements to complex systems including but not limited to routers, switches, firewalls, complex software systems, physical and virtual servers.
- Monitor system performance, identify potential risks, implement necessary security measures, and update them by installing and testing.
- Conduct annual capacity analysis on network traffic and system activities. Collaborate with vendors and service providers to update them and ensure the smooth operation of IT systems.
- Conduct regular data backups and implement disaster recovery plans.
- Stay updated with emerging technologies and recommend improvements to enhance systems and network efficiency.
- Assist in the procurement of all the IT equipment and software, ensuring cost-effectiveness.
- Prepare and maintain procedures, manage the network inventory for all sites, and analyze and send diagnostics to third-party suppliers when needed to resolve network and other systems issues.
- Analyze and develop complex system design and architecture specifications to install, configure, and integrate computer systems.
- Train staff on IT procedures and best practices to promote a technology-driven work environment.
About You:
Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships with people from diverse backgrounds including internal and external stakeholders and community members. You a compassionate, optimistic individual wanting to make a difference in peoples’ lives especially our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community with the following:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Network and Systems Engineer or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of computer hardware, software, and networking systems.
- Proficient in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues.
- Familiarity with network security protocols and data backup procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Certifications in relevant IT fields (e.g., CompTIA A+, CCNA) are preferred.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing technology trends and business needs.
Practical Requirements:
- Current C Class Drivers Licence (QLD) – essential
- Satisfactory Police Criminal History Check.
