The Position
Staff Specialist or Senior Staff Specialist Psychiatrist General Adult ; full-Time position up to 80 hours per fortnight.
- Total remuneration value of up to $470,780 (L24) is comprised of: A salary between $204,206 - $237,196 (L18-L24)
- Total remuneration value of up to $514,452 (L27) is comprised of: A salary between $244,201 - $258,910 (L25-L27)

The Hospital
The facility includes a 24-bed acute mental health inpatient unit and a 6-bed Step-Up Step-Down Unit. Community Mental Health Services encompass an Acute Care Service, Consultation Liaison Psychiatry, Continuing Care Team, Mobile Intensive Rehabilitation Team, Early Psychosis, Child and Youth Mental Health, Older Persons Mental Health, and an Alcohol and Other Drugs Service.
The services also feature an Assertive Mobile Youth Outreach Service, which complements the Community Child and Youth Mental Health Service. This service forms part of an integrated care continuum for adolescents needing mental health treatment.
The Child and Adolescent Unit (CAU) includes two designated mental health beds for crisis intervention, with established links to the Townsville Adolescent Unit for extended admissions.
The Requirements
- Specialist registration with AHPRA as a FRANZCP, and RANZCP trainees who are six months away from obtaining fellowship are also welcome to apply.
- International Medical Graduates from NZ, UK, Ireland, Canada, USA, South Africa, and Hong Kong who have been specialists for at least one to two years are also invited to apply.
