An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced VET educator and leader to join the School of Trades as the Deputy Dean – VET. In this managerial role, you will lead the design, development, and delivery of high-quality education and training products in a competitive environment, while ensuring compliance with vocational standards, financial sustainability, and quality requirements.

Based at our Mackay, Gladstone, Emerald, or Rockhampton campus, this position involves overseeing all aspects of the VET courses offered by the School, including staff management and administrative responsibilities. This role also requires flexibility for overnight travel between campuses as part of your duties. 

In addition to your expertise in vocational education, leadership, and management, you will bring strong interpersonal and communication skills, along with the ability to build positive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

Position Requirements

  • Postgraduate qualification with significant work experience or extensive relevant work experience in the VET Sector. 
  • Knowledge and understanding of University management, governance and quality assurance frameworks, including the legislative and accountability requirements of the Australian Higher Education and Vocational Education sectors.
  • Five or more years teaching and/or educational experience within vocational education or another post-compulsory education setting and hold a recognised educational qualification.
  • Proven expertise in the management of significant human and physical resources.
  • Interpreting legislation and developing policies, procedures and plans particularly in relation to vocational education and training issues.
  • Proven innovative and conceptual thinking, analysis of complex situations and development of delivery strategies which challenge traditional approaches.
