Development Compliance Officer

Council is seeking to appoint a permanent full time Development Compliance Officer to contribute to Council’s success. This role is currently based in Miriam Vale, however office location is flexible for the preferred candidate.

About the Role

The purpose of this position is to conduct quality investigations, inspections and evidence-based research for civil and residential developments under construction. This position inspects and reports on development in a manner that provides the community with a high level of confidence in acceptable standards of compliance for building works in a cyclonic region and built infrastructure that becomes a Council Asset.

You will bring:

  • Certificate IV Building and Construction and licenced with the Queensland Building Construction Commission (QBCC).
  • Substantial years of relevant experience and skills in enforcement activities and knowledge of residential building and civil construction approval principles and processes relevant to the development industry.
  • Experience in Civil Construction for Civil Works including roadworks, drainage, water and sewer infrastructure construction.
  • Demonstrated experience in a regulatory role with a dynamic customer focused work environment including experience in the field of development compliance and enforcement.
  • Expertise and demonstrable skills in coordinating and conducting site inspections and/or compliance investigations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience interpreting and applying legislation and standards.
  • High level skills in negotiation, conflict resolution and problem solving to effectively resolve issues.
  • Current Work Safely in the Construction Industry (White Card).
