Disability Support Worker Complex Care

Job Description

Immediate start for client-focused Disability Support Workers. Previous experience in supporting participants with complex care needs, mental health diagnosis, and behaviours of concern desired.

Casual Positions available, with the potential of permanent part-time contracts set at 60 hours per fortnight with additional shifts as possible to accommodate staff on leave. Ability to work a variety of shifts: Monday through Sunday. Flexible shifts based on client roster needs on a 24/7 rotating roster which includes evenings, sleepovers, awake shifts, and weekend shifts. Some shorter social shifts also available.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Meeting our clients' individual needs in the least restrictive way possible

  • Mentoring clients and assisting them to develop skills - guiding people to develop independent living skills- "do with, not for"

  • Being a positive role model and provide positive support to our clients in areas such as emotional behaviour, assistance with personal care and hygiene, transport, education, cooking and domestic duties

  • Assisting in dispensing client medication and adherence to client support plans

  • Assisting with personal care, aid changes, meal preparation and domestic tasks as required

  • Manual handling and transport

  • Completing clear, concise and factual handover notes and incident reports

  • Managing complex and challenging client behaviours (including aggressive behaviours)

  • Supporting our clients to engage with their local communities and culture through access to Community Participation Programs and recreational activities

  • Nurturing dignity, autonomy and positive self-esteem

What you will bring:

  • Australian citizenship or permanent residency is required for this position.

  • Hold or be working towards obtaining a qualification in disability support (preferred)

  • Certificate III in disability support or equivalent qualification is desired.

  • Positive attitude, willingness to learn and work as a team member

  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal

  • Ability to take initiative and work as part of a team

  • Current driver's license and registered vehicle (mandatory requirement)

  • Current First Aid and CPR Certificate (mandatory requirement)

  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module (mandatory requirement)

  • Previous experience supporting people with a range of behavioural concerns and needs preferred

  • Basic computer literacy (training provided on our systems)

  • Be willing and available for call in shifts.
