Economic Development & Industry Engagement Advisor

 

  • Permanent Full Time 
  • Monday to Friday, 72.5 hours per fortnight, 9 day fortnight 
  • $98,887- $103,008 per annum (LGIA Stream A Level 5) + Superannuation
  • Location – Rockhampton

 

Your new role

The Rockhampton Region is the economic capital of Central Queensland and is entering a strong growth phase. Advance Rockhampton as the economic development and marketing arm of Rockhampton Regional Council requires an enthusiastic economic adviser with communication, collaborative and technical skills.

This position supports Council’s direction by providing advice, support, and assistance in delivering economic outcomes to the Rockhampton Region. You will be a part of and support the Advance Rockhampton Economic Development team, using data analysis skills to support strategic industry and business growth outcomes. 

You will also facilitate the development of trade and business growth by engaging with industry participants while growing the Advance Rockhampton brand.

This position requires the completion of a satisfactory Criminal History Check - Police Certificate (Australia Wide Name Only Police Check).

 

What we are looking for

  • Degree qualification in Economics or Commerce (or related discipline) and / or equivalent demonstrated experience.
  • Experience in the delivery of economic research using data analysis.
  • Proactive and self-motivated individual with great attention to detail.
  • Experience with supply chain management and / or local industry is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated stakeholder engagement and liaison skills, including planning, communication, and facilitation.

  • Ability to identify, analyse and capitalise on economic opportunities to support strategic industry and business growth.
  • High level stakeholder engagement and liaison skills with a strong focus on negotiation and influencing to achieve positive business outcomes.
  • Experience and demonstrated skills using a data driven approach to economic development including data analysis, research and data visualisation.
  • Ability to plan and work independently in a fast-paced environment on multiple projects, while contributing to overarching team goals.
