About the Role:

Teys Australia is seeking a qualified Electrical Leading Hand to join the Asset Management team based at our Rockhampton processing site in QLD.

Reporting to the Electrical Supervisor this opportunity will enable and support site production through assisting in leading a repair and maintenance team. 

The successful candidate will be responsible for completing and assisting with daily electrical troubleshooting & maintenance tasks to ensure the safe, timely and cost-effective completion of work in accordance with Australian Standards and business policies & procedures.

Your daily core duties will include but not limited to:

  • Supervision and training of apprentices.
  • Training of new and international tradespersons.
  • Supervision of school-based trainees and work experience students.
  • First line assistance with critical breakdowns.
  • Assist with electrical maintenance works planning and scheduling.
  • Supervise Electrical contractors for works on specialised plant and equipment.
  • Test run plant and equipment following major repairs.
  • Ensure Electrical PM tasks are carried out effectively and on time.
  • Maintain productive relationships with the production team.
Other role requirements may include:
  • Lead site mini-improvement projects with Supervisors and Managers.
  • Ensure that housekeeping and safety in workshops is maintained.
  • Work alternative shift work as required to oversee the maintenance operation of the site.
  • Participate in recommending and developing initiatives which enhance productivity, efficiency, and profitability of the plant.
About You:

It is essential that you have the following experience/skills:

  • Trade qualifications in the electrical fields with at least five (5) years relevant experience in an export food manufacturing facility or similar.
  • Must hold a current working at heights certification and forklift licence.
  • Knowledge of AS 3000-2018 and relative electrical standards
  • Knowledge of fault-finding using PLC
  • Knowledge of common automation communication protocols
  • Current driver's licence.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and technical skills.
Desirable: 
  • Direct experience in an export meat processing facility.
  • Advanced computer literacy skills.
  • Design and technical drawing skills.
  • Trainer/Assessor accreditation.
  • Certified Machine Safety expert.
  • EEHA electrician
  • HV switching coordinator.
