About Us:
Bidgerdii Community Health Service is an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community controlled primary health care service, operating in the Rockhampton and Central Queensland region for 30 years. The organisation is a bulk billing community-controlled health service, managed by a Board of Directors who oversee and manage the strategic directions of the service.
Bidgerdii provides comprehensive primary health and well-being services to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community in the Rockhampton and surrounding regions. Bidgerdii collaborates with health and well-being partner agencies to enable integrated continuity of care for the community and continue to work to contribute to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health policy and program reform in Queensland.
About the Role:
This position is located within the Bidgerdii Rockhampton Clinic and forms part of the Clinic team which is responsible for specialist community and primary health nursing services that focuses on the prevention, early detection and management of health problems for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. The role will entail service delivery from designated primary clinic locations and outreach services, under limited supervision, as required.
About You:
You a compassionate, optimistic individual wanting to make a difference in peoples lives especially our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community and also have the following:
- Nursing qualifications, with current APHRA Registration (or eligibility for registration), Immunisation Endorsement and experience is preferred, current First Aid Certificate.
- Demonstrated clinical experience, in particular the ability to implement and support a medical/primary health care team and effectively plan, and coordinate workload to achieve results.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Aboriginal Community Controlled Health services and the issues facing these organisations.
- Demonstrated ability to comply with the profession’s code of ethics and function in accordance with legislation affecting nursing practice.
- An ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and the aged while possessing well developed interpersonal, communications (both verbal and written) and teamwork skills.
- Sound understanding of the principles of primary health care.
- Ability to work with a wide variety of professionals and the public, as part of a team.
- An ability to liaise and work with local communities and relevant Government and non-Government organizations.
- Ability to work as part of a multi- disciplinary team and understand the Cycle of care Patient system.
- Demonstrated experience with working with families and commitment to ensuring continuity of care.
Practical Requirements:
- Immunisation requirements – It is a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against the following vaccine preventable diseases: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis A and Pertussis (whooping cough) during their employment.
- Current CPR and First Aid Certificate.
- Current Blue Card (Working with Children and young people) or willingness to apply for a Blue Card
- Current C Class Drivers Licence (QLD) – essential.
- Satisfactory Police Criminal History Check.
