Around half of Queensland’s trade, by tonnage, passes through our ports at Weipa, Abbot Point, Mackay, and Hay Point, which makes us one of Queensland’s largest Port Authorities. We take great care to provide safe, and competitive seaport services to efficiently facilitate imports and exports through our Queensland ports.

About the Role:

Reporting to the Manager Environment your next career move as an Environment Coordinator will see you coordinating a range of environment programs and providing environmental advice across the organisation.

The successful person will manage the Environment Management System, undertake environmental audits to ensure compliance with environment and planning approvals; and contribute to the development of management plan documentation.  

This exciting position requires an enthusiastic communicator who will oversee and assist with internal environment training and inductions; assist with activities such as implementing our intern/scholarship program and represent NQBP interests at forums with external customers, regulators and stakeholders.   

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Science, Environment Management or similar.
  • Sound knowledge or experience managing ISO14001 certified Environmental Management systems and environmental auditing.
  • Knowledge of environmental legislation relevant to port/industry
  • Demonstrated experience in effectively working within multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Strong Administrative skills
  • High level written and oral communication skills
