Job Description

Expressions of Interest – Maintenance & Projects Planner
Mining, Ports & Council

S&W Asset Management | Mackay & Coalfields
S&W Asset Management is seeking Expressions of Interest from experienced Maintenance & Projects Planners to support upcoming shutdowns, outages, and project delivery across our mining, ports, and council portfolio throughout the Mackay & Coalfields region.

These opportunities may be available on a permanent full-time or casual basis (depending on role and project requirements) and offer genuine variety — from planning complex port shutdowns and fixed plant outages to coordinating mining maintenance and council-based works. You’ll work across multiple asset classes while owning schedules end‑to‑end.
The Role As part of our planning talent pool, you may be considered for future roles where you will be responsible for planning and scheduling maintenance, shutdown, and project activities, working closely with operations, engineering, and contractors to ensure safe and efficient execution.

Typical responsibilities may include:
  • Planning and scheduling shutdowns, outages, and maintenance activities
  • Developing detailed work packs, labour profiles, and execution schedules
  • Building integrated schedules across maintenance and project scopes
  • Coordinating with operations, maintenance, engineering, and contractors
  • Managing schedules through execution, tracking progress and risks
  • Using SAP (PM/MM) and MS Project to manage work orders, critical paths, reporting, and KPIs
  • Identifying and mitigating schedule and execution risks
About You We’re keen to hear from planners who bring:
  • 2+ years’ experience in maintenance planning, shutdown planning, or project scheduling
  • Experience within mining, ports, or council environments
  • Strong working knowledge of SAP PM/MM (or equivalent CMMS)
  • Proficiency in MS Project or Primavera
  • Hands-on experience supporting shutdowns, outages, or maintenance execution
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and coordination skills
Highly regarded:
  • Experience planning shutdowns or fixed plant assets (CHPP, ports, bulk materials handling)
  • Trade background or engineering qualification
What We Offer
  • Various rosters available, including DIDO and home‑every‑night options (role dependent)
  • Permanent full-time or casual opportunities as projects arise
  • Exposure to complex shutdowns, maintenance, and project environments
  • Diverse portfolio across mining, ports, and council assets
  • Supportive, experienced planning and leadership team
  • Competitive salary packages plus allowances
  • Ongoing professional development and career progression opportunities
Register Your Interest If you’re a planner looking for upcoming opportunities offering technical challenge, role variety, and genuine work‑life balance, we’d love to hear from you.
