About the Opportunity
Reporting to our Pre-Contracts Manager and working as part of a close-knit commercial and tendering team, you will play a critical role in growing and maintaining the Company’s competitive advantage whilst gaining exposure to a diverse range of underground coal projects at various stages of the project lifecycle. You will use your industry expertise and strong stakeholder engagement skills to deliver high quality estimates and bids.
Key responsibilities:
- Interpret client scopes, appreciate client’s underlying drivers and plan commercially viable project solutions;
- Work closely with Mastermyne Senior Operational Managers and Executive Management to coordinate tender expectations;
- Build cost estimates from First Principles, for a leading contractor that delivers services to mine operators;
- Detailed rates build-up and consolidation for labour, equipment and maintenance, unit rates, plus fixed price and schedule of rates style contracts;
- Preparing tender returnable schedules, org charts, equipment lists, materials takeoffs, production calculations;
- Preparing submissions, presentations, and Quality Assurance documentation for tenders ensuring that tenders are submitted professional and timely;
- Manage tender enquiries and assist project managers with project kick-offs.
About the Person
The successful Estimator will have the ability to multi-task commitments, whilst managing stakeholder expectations. Your ability to negotiate, influence and engage with a number of operational and functional support teams will be critical to successfully deliver quality work in a fast-paced, quick turnaround environment. Your advanced Excel and mathematical skills, ability to learn new estimating systems, and apply logical thinking to your estimations is key for the successful applicant.
Skills and experience required:
- Knowledge of Underground Coal mining, technical terminology and related equipment will be very highly regarded;
- Demonstrated experienced in underground mining, tunnelling, civil construction, or engineering highly desirable;
- Strong background in estimation, commercials and bid management;
- Ability to take the lead on tenders <$30M, and be involved in large scale underground mining projects ranging up to $200M;
- Proven track record of managing and winning tenders on mining and civil infrastructure projects;
- Mining, Construction, Mechanical or Civil Engineering or Surveying backgrounds desirable.
