About the role

Are you ready to ignite your career? We are on the hunt for our next Explosive Product Support Technologist (PPIS Technologist) to join our dynamic team!

This role can be based in our Queensland Cannon Hill, Gladstone, or Mackay offices, operating on a Monday-to-Friday schedule.

Our Product Process & Implementation Support (PPIS) team is a group of subject matter experts dedicated to the manufacture and application of bulk explosive products across Australia. In this exciting role, you will primarily support operations across Queensland, with an estimated 50/50 split between home and field/plant travel.
 

What you will be doing

 

As a PPIS Technologist, you will:
 

  • Drive the development and implementation of Orica’s cutting-edge technology projects into customer operations.
  • Provide advanced-level expertise on Orica’s products and processes to site operations and customer teams.
  • Identify and document continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Offer technical support for ammonium nitrate emulsion (ANE) manufacturing operations.
  • Take ownership of the rapid resolution of product/process issues and opportunities.
  • Deliver and support regional product and process-related projects.
  • Provide technical oversight and input on raw materials and explosive formulation management.
  • Build and nurture sustainable relationships with our technical, commercial, and operational teams.
     

What you will bring

 

To be successful in this role, you should have:

 

  • A degree or diploma in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering, or significant related field experience.
  • Strong technical report writing skills.
  • Proven problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience in explosive manufacture, delivery, and on-bench practices (advantageous).
  • An understanding of the mining or quarrying industries and their blasting needs, or experience in a related industrial environment.
