Field Technician

We are currently seeking an experinced Field Technician based in Mackay for the NBN/ Teleco industry.

We are seeking an experienced Field Technicians within NBN / Telecommunications based in Mackay with strong background in fibre splicing is very favourable.
The primary purpose of the position and the teams will be engaged in jointing/splicing activities and may supervise the work of less senior jointers/splicers internal or external.

Key Duties:
  • The primary purpose of the position and the teams will be engaged in jointing/splicing activities and may supervise the work of less senior jointers/splicers internal or external.
  • Undertakes jointing/spliciand restoration using electronic location and testing equipment OTDR AND PON, Viavi. The ability to use ribbon and single splice machine.
  • Knowledge of Network and the ability to Scope Civil works, supply “Mud Maps” and provide SORs. Working knowledge of Atlas
  • Perform Field and Desk Top Audits.
  • Identify potential hazardous situations and take corrective actions accordingly and nurture a work environment where OHS & E issues are dealt with proactively.     
  • Report on critical delays that effect the delivery of projects with successful outcomes to customers.
  • Ensuring that appropriate tools, safety equipment and materials are available to enable the timely completion of tasks.
  • Comply with Company’s productivity, safety, and quality standards.
  • This position involves interaction, with customers and employees at several levels.
  • Continual assessment of safety risks.
  • The role requires some travel and time away from home. Rostered on for after Hours on Call.

Skills and Experience required:
  • Copper, Fibre splicing & Joining
  • Construction White card 
  • NBN Enable tickets favourable.
  • Drivers Licence
  • First Aid
  • Can clearly communicate with customer
  • Understanding of Communication network
  • Basic tool handling 
  • Strong commitment to safety
  • Good hard working attitude
  • This role requires all successful candidates to have valid police checks
