The role
As Finance Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in maintaining the organisation’s financial integrity and supporting effective governance and decision making. Reporting to the Operations Director – Business Services, you will lead the finance function and manage a small, skilled team responsible for day to day finance operations, including accounts payable and receivable, payroll, budgeting, forecasting, funding management and financial acquittals.
This is a 12 month fixed term opportunity to backfill an internal movement, providing continuity and leadership during this period while contributing to ongoing improvement across finance systems and processes.
What you'll do:

Lead and coordinate organisation wide budgeting and forecasting, including financial modelling, analysis and recommendations.

Deliver accurate, timely and fit for purpose financial reporting and analysis to managers, Executive, the Finance Audit and Risk Management Committee and funding bodies.

Partner with managers and contract managers to build financial capability, providing advice, guidance and support to effectively manage program budgets and financial processes.

Undertake regular financial forecasting throughout the financial year to support planning and decision making.

Oversee core finance functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, banking and asset management, including statutory returns.

Ensure all financial obligations under commissioned contracts are met and that appropriate evidence is maintained to support payments and reporting.

Drive continuous improvement across finance systems, reporting environments, policies and processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Lead, support and develop the finance team, fostering a collaborative “One Team” culture and supporting staff to learn, grow and respond to changing priorities.

Ensure compliance with organisational policies, procedures, legislation and workplace health and safety requirements.

Key selection criteria

Tertiary Qualifications in Finance, Accounting, Business and, plus a minimum five years’ professional experience in commercial finance of a multi-departmental commercial organisation, including team management.

Demonstrated experience with managing accounting functions including payroll, accounts receivable and payable, budgeting and asset management.

Demonstrated ability to analyse financial data and prepare high-level financial reports, statements and projects for an Executive Leadership Team, FARMC and Board.

Well-developed problem-solving skills with a high degree of initiative and ability to produce timely and quality results.

Experience supervising and/or preparing month and year end financial reports and associated processes.

High level of understanding and knowledge in the design and development of analytical and visualisation reports/concepts.

Demonstrated competence in the use of a range of relevant accounting software programs.
