Finance Officer - Roseberry Qld

Job Description

Position Summary
The Finance Officer works in collaboration with other Business Team members to support the Business Manager to ensure that Roseberry Qld operates within a healthy financial environment and meets all its obligations and accountabilities on time.  The position holder supports the Business Manager to establish, operate, and maintain good financial systems and controls.  The role is located at Roseberry Qld Head Office, is a member of the Business Team and will work closely with the Business Manager. 

Key Responsibilities/Outcomes:

Under the direction of the Business Manager, the Finance Officer will:

  • Assist Business Manager with financial reporting, budgeting, systems and processes
  • Assist to develop budgets for tenders, submissions and funding proposals.
  • Prepare acquittal reports to funders for Business Manager’s review.
  • Assist with preparation of monthly financial reports and forecasts of performance against budget and operational goals, with variance analysis and commentary. 
  • Preparation of work papers to support financial reports, including year-end reconciliations.
  • Processing of financial transactions using Reckon Accounts, ensuring its accuracy in terms of transactions entered at an account and class level and GST codes.
  • IAS/ BAS monthly, including year-end reporting for Business Manger’s review.
  • Day-to-day accounts management (AP & AR transactions, bank reconciliations etc.) as part of the Business Team workflow assignments.
  • Assist in the development, improvement and implementation of internal financial controls, policies and procedures.
  • Close management of outstanding accounts receivable and debt recovery
  • Use property IT systems for monitoring of planned maintenance forecasts and budgets. 
  • Liaise with other staff in relation to queries within the finance and IT systems as required
  • Assist the Business Manager with management of compliance issues
  • Accurately process payroll, including maintaining knowledge of relevant awards, and maintenance of up-to-date employee payroll records, as part of the Business Team workflow assignments.
  • Filing and organising of documents associated with role and other general office duties
  • Assist with the development and update of policies and procedures.
  • Proactively identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement 
  • Support the Business Manager in the management of operational functions and systems, including administration, and IT 
  • Assist with insurance claims lodgement and management.
  • Work in a healthy and safe manner and encourage others to do the same, including adherence to all relevant policies and procedures
  • Other duties as directed from time to time

Essential Education and Experience 

  • Qualification in Accounting/Business/Finance and/or relevant experience in appropriate discipline relevant to areas of responsibility
  • Knowledge of an integrated financial management system and other software applications (eg. databases, spreadsheets) 
  • Knowledge of, or the ability to acquire knowledge of relevant legislation, policies and procedures applicable to the role.
