About this opportunity:
The Grave Digger will maintain cemetery grounds to high standards, perform landscaping, and prepare graves for burials with respect. This role involves assisting visitors with burial information while demonstrating empathy and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain cemetery grounds and create a respectful environment for visitors.
- Provide burial information with compassion.
- Accurately record burial details and manage cemetery data.
- Prepare graves and assist with exhumations.
- Report and help repair cemetery infrastructure.
- Clean and maintain cemetery amenities.
- Operate tools and equipment safely.
- Use technology for communication and work management.
- Complete scheduled tasks and contribute to projects.
- Uphold the Council's image in all interactions.
Essential Qualifications, Experience & Skills:
The ideal candidate will possess:
- General Construction Induction Training certified.
- QLD "C" Class Driver's Licence (or equivalent).
- Light Rigid (LR) Licence for safe transport and equipment use.
- ACDC Commercial Operator's Licence for chemical handling.
- AQF3 Chemical Accreditation for herbicide/pesticide application.
- Extensive experience in public gardens, landscaping, or labouring.
- Skilled in grave preparation, from digging to setup for services.
- Competent in operating and maintaining cemetery machinery.
- Proficient with small plant equipment, power tools, and general maintenance tasks.
