The Opportunity
This is a full-time leadership role (Head of Department – Admin 2), overseeing the library’s critical role in supporting learning across Prep to Year 12. The Head of Library will manage the library team, resources, and services, while also contributing to the school’s broader educational mission by promoting literacy, information research, and the integration of digital tools.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Leading the development and implementation of library services to support the curriculum and school community.
  • Collaborating with teachers to integrate information literacy, research, and reading into classroom learning.
  • Managing a diverse and dynamic collection of print and digital resources, aligned with curriculum needs.
  • Promoting a love of reading through book clubs, author visits, and reading initiatives.
  • Overseeing library operations, including budgeting, cataloging, circulation, and space management.
 
About You
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate strong leadership and a passion for promoting literacy and digital fluency within a school context. You will:
  • Hold an ALIA-accredited graduate or post-graduate qualification in Library and Information Science, with specialisation in school libraries.
  • Be eligible for or hold Queensland College of Teachers (QCT) registration.
  • Have experience in library management, including cataloging systems and educational technologies.
  • Demonstrate excellent collaboration and communication skills with staff, students, and the wider school community.
  • Show a commitment to fostering a culture of reading and research among students.
