Join the ConocoPhillips Australia HSE Team as HSE Operations Supervisor.
Position Overview
ConocoPhillips’ Australian headquarters are located in Brisbane. Our focus is supplying Australian customers with natural gas and international customers with liquefied natural gas. We do this through our 47.5 percent interest in the Australia Pacific LNG joint venture, one of the largest producers of natural gas in eastern Australia. ConocoPhillips Australia also operates the Australia Pacific LNG liquefied natural gas facility near Gladstone. We are also an exploration company, with ongoing exploration occurring in the Bowen and Surat Basin in Central Queensland and new exploration in the Otway Basin along the southern coast of Australia to identify natural gas reserves for supply to Australian customers.
About the Role
As HSE Operations Supervisor, you’ll be a key member of the ABU HSE Leadership team, partnering with frontline and functional leaders to implement OMS procedures at the APLNG Facility on Curtis Island. You’ll lead the site HSE team across operations, projects, and shutdowns, overseeing health, safety, environment, industrial hygiene, and onsite medical services. This role drives hazard identification, risk control, incident reporting, and continuous improvement to strengthen safety culture and deliver innovative, effective solutions.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Lead and prioritise the site HSE team’s work to ensure compliance with OMS procedures and business needs.

Drive HSE performance and risk management across operations, maintenance, and projects.

Foster a strong safety culture and workforce awareness of hazards and controls.

Oversee environmental compliance, industrial hygiene programs, and shutdown safety plans.

Manage occupational health programs, including medical surveillance, D&A testing, and injury case management.
-
Support daily operations, facilitate risk assessments, and lead incident reporting and investigations.

Advise leadership on HSE issues, report performance trends, and represent ABU during agency visits and industry forums.

Manage contracts for waste management and health services, and oversee HSE Operation’s team budgeting.
You will bring to the role:
-

Degree in Safety Engineering, Occupational Health, Environmental Sciences, or equivalent.

10+ years HSE experience in oil & gas or related industries, including 5+ years leadership experience influencing teams.

Strong working knowledge of QLD WH&S and environmental legislation.

Proven ability in compliance management, stakeholder engagement, and incident investigation.

Site-based HSE management experience in a Safety Case environment, including implementation of HSE/OMS procedures and programs.
-
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
-
Willingness to travel up to 10% annually.
Preferred:
-
Certified Safety Professional.
-
Certified Occupational Hygienist (COH) or Industrial Hygienist (CIH).

Experience in Safety Case settings for procedural development and auditing.
