Our Bajool Operations in Central Queensland are currently seeking permanent HSEQ Coordinator to join our Health, Safety, Environment and Quality team. (Not a FIFO role) Working with the Site Manager, the National Managers of QSE and site personnel to ensure accurate product testing and management and monitoring of site safety systems in line with the corporate strategy and ensure compliance with current certifications. Bajool and Port Alma are about 40km south of Rockhampton and 40km north of Gladstone.     The Role

    This role reports directly to the Site Manager. The HSEQ Coordinator sits on the site leadership team, influences at all levels, and is well supported by the site leaders and the National HSEQ Manager. The role is responsible for the following:
  • Driving continuous improvement in Quality, Safety and Environment
  • Managing and driving (through laboratory technicians) the accurate product testing, analysis, scoping, and implementation of site quality systems
  • Supporting the Production, Manufacturing & Maintenance teams with hazard identification and management. Ensuring reporting of incidents and outcomes are actioned in a timely fashion
  • Co-ordinating Safety & Environment issues, committees, training and rehabilitation of any employee that may have suffered a work-related injury
  • Assisting the site to comply with relevant certification and engage in external compliance audits
  • Facilitating and supporting the induction of new employees and contractors to the company's safety and environmental policies and procedures
  • Use a collaborative approach to build solid relationships with leadership and all departments, clients and operations to ensure effective health, safety, quality and environmental management.
  • Provide strategic advice to build a strong quality, safety and environmental culture within Cheetham Salt.
  • Act as the backup Site Senior Executive (SSE) for site.




    About You

    Are you passionate about health, safety, environmental and quality systems? Cheetham Salt is looking for a proactive and experienced HSEQ Coordinator to join our team. You are results orientated, with a high level of attention to detail and strong administrative skills. You have highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive working relationships at all levels. You love systems and using data to drive positive outcomes for the team.

  • Exceptional communication skills including the ability to influence and negotiate outcomes and create a strong quality, health and safety culture.
  • The capability to develop and maintain excellent relationships with stakeholders.
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant HSEQ discipline, such as occupational health and safety or environmental or quality management
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a HSEQ coordinator or similar role, preferably within the Manufacturing Industry
  • SSE qualifications (preferred)
  • Excellent knowledge of work health and safety and environmental legislation and best practices
  • Proficient in using HSEQ software and data analysis tools
  • Ability to work independently, as well as flexibly, co-operatively and efficiently and as part of a team
  • Proven ability to develop clear and concise written communications including business, investigative and audit reports and proposals.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and a passion for workplace health and safety
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Prior experience in food safety and quality assurance in a food manufacturing environment (preferred)
  • Ability to interact & influence with both internal and external stakeholders at all levels
  • Intermediate skills in MS Office suite
