Intermediate Tax Accountant - Remote

About the role:

Working remotely, you will be responsible for handling client files from start to finish, being delegated workflow from senior accountants and managers. You may also be asked to speak with clients via phone/email with general queries and advice.

  • Prepare financial statements for companies, trusts, partnerships, and sole traders

  • Prepare and lodge income tax returns, BAS, IAS, and FBT returns

  • Assist with Div 7A, CGT and FBT calculations under the guidance of senior accountants

  • Maintain accurate client files and ensure all compliance deadlines are met

  • Liaise with the ATO and other regulatory bodies to resolve queries

  • Occasional quarterly travel to the office for events, client meetings and team bonding

What you will bring:

  • 2-3+ years previous experience working in an Australian accounting firm environment

  • Ability to manage a client file from start to finish, with minimal supervision

  • Tertiary qualification in accounting/commerce/finance

  • Knowledge of MYOB and XERO

  • CA/CPA in progress, or looking to begin

  • Excellent attention to detail & good organisational skills

  • A willingness to collaborate, & work in a team

  • Ambition & drive to progress in your role/the business

To be considered you will ideally have: 

  • Your CA/CPA Qualifications or studying towards

  • Ability to be trusted to work remotely, with strong tenure

  • Strong tax compliance interpretation skills

  • 3 + years’ experience in an Australian Accounting Firm

  • Experience producing tax returns and financial statements for companies, trusts and partnerships and calculating Division 7A, CGT and FBT

  • Experience with Xero (preferred)
