We are looking for an Isolation and Permitting Specialist to improve the isolation & permitting standards as the Yarwun refinery moves into an electronic permitting platform utilising Intelipermit.

Initially reporting to the Manager - Production and working in a challenging and exciting environment within the Production department, you will:

  • Provide functional leadership, support and coaching for Permit Issuers.
  • Be the custodian of Isolation and Permit Standards to ensure they are current and there is alignment with current practices.
  • Project Manage the continued role out of Intelipermit.
  • Develop a culture of scheduling permit issuing to develop a smooth drumbeat of work.
  • Maintain oversight of the effectiveness of isolation & permitting systems including monitoring incidents to design system improvement and training. 

What you’ll bring

  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • Previous experience working in a similar role and environment.
  • Exposure to hazard identification and management.
  • An understanding of isolations, P&IDs, work permit processes, WHS requirements, legislation, and risk assessment processes.
  • The ability to coordinate with multiple people across departments.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Clear understanding of integrated management systems, word processing, presentations and spread sheets.
  • Previous exposure electronic permitting systems will be highly regarded.

Where you’ll be working

Located in Central Queensland, approximately 10km north-west of Gladstone, Yarwun alumina refinery commenced operations in 2004. Processing bauxite from our mines in Weipa and Gove, Yarwun produces more than three million tonnes of smelter grade alumina annually. As one of the largest industries in the Gladstone region, Yarwun employs over 700 people and has a large contractor workforce.

With a focus on safely improving our process every day, the team at Yarwun challenge themselves to use existing and emerging technology to support our 24 hour operation.
