Job Description

Mackay Regional Council is seeking experienced Labourers, based at the Paget Depot on a permanent full-time basis on a 9 day fortnight.

You will be responsible for carrying out labouring duties associated with water or sewerage assets, construction projects or maintenance activities under the supervision of a Plumber, Leading Hand and/or the Construction Supervisor. Previous experience in construction and maintenance labour is required, including working with water and sewerage distribution systems, and pipelaying.

About this opportunity:

The role offers an exciting opportunity to deliver exceptional customer service to MRC clients, both internal and external, while engaging in diverse construction and maintenance tasks for water and sewerage assets. You will operate a variety of equipment, including rigid motor vehicles up to 15 tonnes, small ride-on machinery, and light mechanical plants. Your contributions will be vital in ensuring quality standards, participating in daily toolbox talks, identifying and mitigating hazards, and managing road reserve signage installations post-training. The position also involves promptly handling client paperwork and adhering to environmental legislation to promote sustainable practices. Additionally, you will support your team with various delegated responsibilities, making this a diverse role with no two days the same.

Essential Qualifications, Experience &Skills:

  • General Construction Safety White card
  • QLD manual Car 'C' class open Driver's licence
  • QLD Medium Rigid Truck 'MR' Class Licence or willing to obtain
  • Skid Steer Ticket or willing to obtain
  • Traffic Controllers Ticket & Traffic Management Implementation or willing to obtain
