Our client is an excellent mid-tier commercial building and refurbishment contractor with a range of projects across retail industrial and commercial construction. In QLD their business is thriving with projects throughout the state ranging in value from $5M - $40M across shopping centres, industrial warehouses, retirement living and more. Recently they have secured a $25M refurb and new build retail project in Rockhampton and are looking to recruit a Leading Hand / Junior Foreman to the project team. There will be further opportunities following this with live projects throughout the state.

The role:

In this position, reporting to the Site Manager you’ll work as a 2IC Leading Hand Foreman, playing a key support role to the management and day-to-day running of the site.

In this position, your duties will include; 

• Site inductions and toolbox talks

• Delivery and logistic management.

• WHSE / site safety management

• Help manage trades across the construction life cycle from structure through to internal finishes.

• Use of industry software including Procore and Hammertech

• Read and work off construction plans

• Communication and management of sub-contractors and trades on site

• Identify, rectify and manage defect works

• Use initiative to keep job running smoothly in the absence of the Site Manager

To be suitable for the role it is anticipated that you will possess the following;

• A carpentry trade background – key. Cert lll a minimum

• Will have built up some (1-2 years) site supervisory skills as a Leading Hand / Junior Foreman with recognised Australian commercial and refurbishment building contractors

• Will have ideally worked for a reputable build contractor with established systems in place

• Will ideally have worked on new build construction or refurbishment projects in the industrial, retail, commercial build space

• Possess a ‘can-do’ positive attitude and happy to work on the tools from time-to-time

• Career focused, with a positive attitude and a desire to progress through to Site Foreman. 

• Happy to embrace systems and processes in-keeping win the mid-tier commercial construction space.
