Job Description

Mackay Regional Council are seeking two (2) suitably qualified Leading Hands who have previous experience in the construction of local roads and drainage infrastructure. The successful candidate will join our Capital works team; based at our Paget Depot.

About this opportunity:

This position is responsible for providing daily supervision, support and assistance in leading a day labour crew and subcontractors to carry out civil construction duties associated with roads and drainage assets, construction projects or maintenance activities under the remote supervision of the Supervisor Construction.

Essential Qualifications, Experience & Skills:

  • Certificate III in Civil Construction
  • Current QLD Manual Car 'C' Class Open Driver's Licence
  • Current General Construction Safety 'White' Card
  • Current First Aid Certificate
  • Detailed experience in supervising small to medium size work teams
  • Detailed experience in construction of roads and drainage infrastructure
  • Demonstrated experience in the maintenance and operation of a wide range of machinery.
  • Good skills in oral and written communication

Candidates who hold a Current MR/HR Truck Licence, Plant Operation Certificate of Competency e.g. roller, loader, backhoe, grader and or a Certificate IV in Civil Construction will be highly regarded.

  • Base annual salary of $66,804 - $69,034 ($1284-$1300 per week) including applicable allowances (dependent on experience and qualifications of the successful applicants).
