Leading Hand

Council is seeking to appoint a permanent full time Leading Hand to contribute to the success of Council’s Water Process team.

  • Permanent role with generous allowances

  • Located in Gladstone

About the Role

The purpose of this position is to lead a team that undertakes physical labouring duties and assist in preventative and reactive maintenance and construction of wastewater and water infrastructure within the Gladstone region. As the assets operate 24/7, there is a requirement to monitor and respond to on call alert systems.

  • Salary for this role is $97,077.47, plus generous on call provisions and allowances.

  • Annual increases apply.

  • On call roster attracts additional leave entitlements.

About You

  • Proactive - Takes initiative in identifying issues and suggesting improvements

You will bring:

  1. Certificate III in Water Operations (or a relevant discipline) or industry knowledge gained from previous relevant experience.

  2. Previous experience leading work teams and knowledge and experience in applying Work, Health and Safety in the work environment.

  3. Labouring skills to perform physical tasks on a daily basis undertaking maintenance activities.

  4. Experience and competency operating under a current Medium Rigid (MR) licence. 

  5. Experience and competency operating under a current Vehicle Loading Crane high-risk work licence. 

  6. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team and independently.

  7. Sound communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills.

  8. Sound computer skills and experience and competency using technical devices.

  9. Current Work Safely in the Construction Industry (White Card).

To be eligible for this position, the candidate must have applicable working rights.

This position requires immunisation against Hepatitis A/B and Tetanus.
