The Role

Diverse Asset Maintenance Services is a long-standing, all services maintenance business in Mackay, known for providing exceptional service to a wide range of clients. Our services include servicing multiple contracts with business & Government across outdoor maintenance (parks, gardens & road-side mowing, whipper-snipping, etc), qualified arborist tree work and commercial cleaning.

We are seeking a qualified skilled and reliable Light Vehicle Mechanic to join our dynamic team and pro-actively manage the ongoing maintenance of our fleet of plant & equipment. You will be based at our Slade Point Mackay Workshop and play a critical role in managing the maintenance & repair of a wide range of vehicles & machinery.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology (or equivalent qualification).

  • Min 3 years’ experience working in a similar role.

  • Proven experience in light vehicle servicing and repair.

  • Strong diagnostic skills and mechanical aptitude.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

  • A current open (manual) driver’s licence is mandatory and HR/ MR truck licence would be favourably viewed.

  • Forklift licence.

  • Excellent communication skills, with a customer-focused approach.

  • A high attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship.

  • Demonstrable experience in establishing and maintaining mutually beneficial internal and external relationships.

  • Proven stakeholder and customer engagement with a high degree of professionalism and confidence.

  • Experience in managing the maintenance of a small fleet with appropriate record keeping, including preparing weekly reports to management.

  • Extensive experience in leading and working within a team environment aimed at achieving shared goals and objectives.

  • A keen and natural ability in the leveraging of talent in others… specifically mentoring an incumbent 3rd year mechanical apprentice.

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Performing routine maintenance and repairs on our fleet of vehicles (incl. cars & utes, light trucks, wood chippers, stump grinders, digger/loaders, zero-turn mowers & whipper-snippers), including brakes, suspension, engines, and transmissions, etc.

  • Formulate & manage a schedule of routine maintenance, as well as any identified mechanical faults, defects, etc… and report findings to management for use in budgeting, etc.

  • Liaising with suppliers.

  • Managing outsourced larger jobs with suppliers.

  • Diagnosing mechanical issues and providing accurate solutions.

  • Conducting vehicle inspections and ensuring compliance with safety standards.

  • Ordering necessary parts and ensuring timely completion of repairs.

  • Collaborating with the Admin & Operations Teams to schedule jobs and provide updates.

  • Providing excellent customer service, including explaining vehicle issues & repair solutions to Team.

  • Keeping up to date with the latest vehicle technologies and repair techniques.
