Due to continued growth and our commitment to delivering quality outcomes for our customers, we are seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer to join our engineering team, and you will have the option to be working from Brisbane, Wollongong or Mackay.
About the Role
Reporting to the National Pulley Manager, you will be responsible for the detailed design and engineering of conveyor components and sub-systems, with a focus on pulleys.
Success in this role requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to deliver high-quality outcomes within deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform design modelling, engineering calculations, and product improvements
- Develop and maintain 3D models, material selections, and Bills of Materials (BOMs)
- Produce detailed designs using Autodesk Inventor
- Collaborate with Draftsmen to ensure accurate documentation of design intent
- Liaise with Project Managers, clients, and internal stakeholders
- Support cost-reduction initiatives and design optimisation
- Coordinate fabrication and installation drawings
- Conduct Finite Element Analysis (FEA) on components and systems
- Lead quality audits and investigations, applying Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and 5 Whys methodologies to identify and resolve issues.
About You
You hold a degree in Mechanical Engineering (or similar) and bring 2–3 years of relevant experience. You combine strong technical capability with commercial awareness and a collaborative approach.
Key Skills & Experience
- Experience designing conveyor components (e.g. pulleys, idlers), ideally in the mining sector
- Intermediate-to-advanced proficiency in Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD
- Hands-on experience with FEA (Inventor/Nastran preferred)
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, materials selection, and manufacturing documentation
- Analytical mindset with ability to perform detailed engineering calculations
- Sound commercial acumen, including cost estimation and project support
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Highly organised with strong time management and attention to detail
Desirable:
- Experience with DEM and P&T modelling
