About the role

Gas Field Services is seeking a skilled and experienced Mechanical Fitter to join our team in Mackay, Queensland. As a Mechanical Fitter, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and repairing a wide range of industrial equipment and machinery used in the gas and energy sectors. This full-time position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic and challenging environment, contributing to the overall efficiency and reliability of our operations.

What you'll be doing

• Performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of various mechanical equipment, including Drill Rigs, Backhoes, Skid Steer Loaders, Excavators & Heavy Rigid Trucks
• Reading and interpreting technical diagrams, schematics, and manuals to diagnose and resolve issues
• Collaborating with other team members to coordinate maintenance activities and ensure the timely completion of work orders
• Maintaining accurate records of work performed and reporting on the status of equipment
• Adhering to all safety protocols and environmental regulations to ensure a safe and sustainable work environment
• Working on a variety of different projects

What we're looking

• Mechanical / Diesel Fitter Trade Qualification - or
• Light Vehicle Trade Qualification (with Heavy Equipment experience - ideal but not mandatory  
• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Mechanical Fitter in an industrial or manufacturing setting
• Having a HR Licence would be preferred but not essential
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve equipment issues
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals
• Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders
• Knowledge of relevant safety regulations and the ability to work safely in a hazardous environment
