Design Engineer (Mechanical, Structural or Civil)

What You’ll Do: 

This role provides a balance of office-based design and site-based project inspections, giving you exposure to the full lifecycle of engineering projects.  

You will be expected to work both independently and collaboratively, taking responsibility for scoping, design and engineering projects, and delivering great outcomes. 

  • Scope, design, and manage engineering projects across various industries and processes. 

  • Conduct onsite inspections, compliance or condition audits, onsite 3D laser scanning’s. 

  • Develop or work with our designers to develop 3D models, detailed concept drawings, and engineering documentation to deliver projects.  

  • Apply engineering calculations and FEA to develop safe, practical and effective designs. 

  • Liaise with clients, vendors, and contractors to deliver cost-effective solutions. 

  • Prepare and review project budgets, estimates, and technical documents. 

 Location  

This position will be located at either HDE’s Gladstone or Rockhampton Office. Candidates must live locally or be willing to relocate to the region.

 What You Need: 

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Structural, Mechanical or Civil Engineering. 

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role. 

  • Experience in either Water Treatment, Power Stations, Manufacturing Plants, or Mining. 

  • Competent with FEA programs such as SpaceGass, Strand 7 or Similar. 

  • Experience in delivering engineering design projects through to detailed design and preparing engineer assessments / reports.   

  • Strong project and time management capabilities. 

  • Willing to live and work in the Central Queensland region. 

 Hours of Work: 

  • Monday – Thursday: 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM 

  • Friday: 7:00 AM – 1:00 PM (early finish!) 

  • Alternate work arrangements can be discussed.
