About Us

Bidgerdii Community Health Service is an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community controlled primary health care service, operating in the Rockhampton and Central Queensland region for close to 30 years. The organisation is a bulk billing community-controlled health service, managed by a Board of Directors who oversee and manage the strategic directions of the service.

 

Bidgerdii provides comprehensive primary health and well-being services to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community in the Rockhampton and surrounding regions. Bidgerdii collaborates with health and well-being partner agencies to enable integrated continuity of care for the community and continue to work to contribute to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health policy and program reform in Queensland.

About the Role

We are seeking an additional, highly organised and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to join our team. This position is located within the High Street Clinic and forms part of the Medical Reception and Administration team/s. The ideal candidate will be responsible for greeting patients, scheduling appointments, managing patient records, and providing excellent customer service. The Medical Receptionist will be the first point of contact for patients and will play a critical role in ensuring a positive patient experience.

 

 

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and visitors in a friendly and professional manner
  • Schedule appointments and manage patient records
  • Answer phone calls and respond to patient inquiries
  • Verify patient insurance information and collect co-payments
  • Maintain a clean and organised reception area
  • Assist with administrative tasks as needed

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

About You

You a compassionate, optimistic individual wanting to make a difference in peoples lives especially our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community and also have the following:

  • Certificate III in Business Administration (Medical), or previous experience in a medical office or customer service role
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and electronic medical records systems
  • A sound knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander societies and cultural differences particularly in regards to issues impacting on the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Practical Requirements

  • Immunisation requirements – It is a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against the following vaccine preventable diseases: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis A and Pertussis (whooping cough) during their employment.
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certificate.
  • Current Blue Card (Working with Children and young people) or willingness to apply for a Blue Card
  • Current C Class Drivers Licence (QLD) – essential.
  • Satisfactory Police Criminal History Check.
