NDIS Support Worker – Mental Health Experience

Gladstone Community Linking Agency (GCLA) is seeking experienced NDIS Support Workers with mental health experience to join our High Intensity Supported Independent Living (SIL) team.

About GCLA

GCLA has been delivering Beyond Ordinary care and support in the Gladstone region since 1977. As a registered NDIS and approved Aged Care provider, we deliver tailored supports that empower people to live well at home and in the community.

Our High Intensity SIL homes support individuals with complex health, behavioural and psychosocial needs. We work collaboratively with families, allied health professionals and multidisciplinary teams to provide safe, structured and recovery-oriented environments.

About the Role

As an NDIS Support Worker (Mental Health), you will support individuals living with psychosocial disability, complex behaviours, and mental health conditions to build independence, stability and community connection.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing personal care and daily living support

  • Supporting emotional regulation and implementing behaviour support strategies

  • Assisting with medication support (where trained and competent)

  • Supporting community access and social participation

  • Assisting with household tasks and meal preparation

  • Encouraging recovery-focused goals and independence

  • Implementing Positive Behaviour Support Plans and individual support plans

  • Maintaining accurate documentation and incident reporting

This role requires a calm, confident and trauma-informed approach.

Working Hours

GCLA operates 24/7 services, meaning shifts are available across public holidays, weekends, overnight, evenings, and mornings. Applicants must be available to work flexibly across these hours as needed.

What We’re Looking For

We are seeking compassionate and resilient support workers with experience in mental health and psychosocial disability.

Essential Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience supporting people with mental health conditions or psychosocial disability

  • Understanding of trauma-informed and recovery-oriented practice

  • Strong communication and de-escalation skills

  • Ability to remain calm and professional in complex situations

  • Current First Aid & CPR Certificate

  • NDIS Worker Screening Check (or ability to obtain)

  • Working with Children Check (Blue Card) (or ability to obtain)

  • Current Australian Driver’s Licence and reliable, insured vehicle

Desirable:

  • Certificate III or IV in Mental Health, Disability, Individual Support or equivalent

  • Experience working in High Intensity SIL or complex behaviour environments

  • Medication Administration training

  • Manual Handling training

  • Experience implementing Positive Behaviour Support Plans
