On-Call Undertakers Assistants Required

Job Description

Fitzroy Funerals is seeking compassionate and reliable On-Call Undertaker’s Assistants to support our professional team in managing local deaths and coronial transfers to and from Brisbane, Townsville and Central Highlands Region.

This role is suited to semi-retired individuals or couples who are looking for meaningful, flexible work.
Employees are paid an on-call rates on weekdays and weekends. After hours and weekend rates apply.

Experience in a similar role is not required. Training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the dignified transfer of deceased individuals from homes, aged care facilities, hospitals, or other locations to Fitzroy Funerals or other designated facilities.

  • Support coronial transfers to and from Brisbane as required.

  • Handle all transfers with the utmost care, respect, and professionalism.

  • Follow established protocols for handling deceased persons, including maintaining accurate documentation.

  • Work collaboratively with the Fitzroy Funerals team to ensure smooth and respectful service.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Compassionate, respectful, and professional demeanor.

  • Ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy and discretion.

  • Good physical fitness to manage lifting and transfers in accordance with workplace health and safety requirements.

  • Driver’s license (mandatory).

  • Availability to be on-call with flexibility around working hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
