About the Team:

Our Rockhampton Operations Team play a crucial role in supporting and providing exceptional customer service to our long-distance trains. This is achieved via our dedicated team members who work onboard the trains, at the stations (cleaner, storeperson, catering attendant) or in an operational administration function. 

As the Operation Coordinator Rockhampton, you will be responsible for directly leading a team of up to 60 team members.

About the role:

  • Provide leadership, mentoring and support with a view to encouraging positive work attitude, a positive culture and a dedication to continuous improvement and a commitment to superior customer service operational performance
  • Address workplace incidents including performance issues and customer complaints
  • Develop, promote and refine work practices, processes and procedures 
  • Ensure staff training is up to date (including that safety policies and procedures are adhered to) and manage monthly compliance and quarterly audits 
  • Relieve in the role of Operation Manager Central and Wide Bay when required

Hours:

This is a permanent full-time position based in Rockhampton which predominately works between the hours of 0530 to 1330 Monday to Friday with the flexibility to work some weekends and public holidays when required. 

As part of this position, you may also be required to be on call approximately one in every four weeks. 

About you:

  • High level of experience in leading, coaching, influencing and managing a diverse and remote team through visible leadership.

This includes performance management, change management and influencing a positive team culture

  • Ability to foster strong relationships and communicate effectively across a large organisation with stakeholders, customers and communities 
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities within a tight deadline driven environment
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to problem solve, negotiate and influence change
  • Substantial skills in promoting initiatives and providing quality customer service, principals and practices 
  • Previous experience in hospitality or tourism would be highly advantageous but not essential
  • Be prepared to travel in this position when required e.g. to Brisbane for training
