Council is seeking to appoint a permanent full time Operator to contribute to Council’s success.

  • Enjoy working outdoors throughout the Gladstone Region
  • Monday to Friday – finishing at 3.30pm
  • Located in Calliope

About the Role

The purpose of this position is to effectively and safely operate Council’s plant and equipment, to undertake road patrol and maintenance civil infrastructure tasks. This includes undertaking a wide range of maintenance, repairs and improvement activities within the Gladstone Region.

Your role will include:

  • Operating plant and equipment effectively and safely for road vegetation maintenance activities including roadside slashing, vegetation clearing, brush cutting, herbicide application and other maintenance tasks. 
  • Developing your career in local government
  • Being present, pro-active and solutions-focused and recognise that the community is the core of our business.

You will bring:

  • Previous experience, ticket and competency operating the following plant: Excavator and Bobcat.
  • Previous experience and competency operating a tractor 85 to 115 Horsepower.
  • Experience and competency operating under a current Heavy Rigid (HR) licence.
  • Agricultural Chemical Distribution Control (ACDC) Unrestricted Commercial Operators Licence.
  • Traffic Management Implementation TMI.
  • Current Chainsaw Level 1 and 2.
  • Demonstrated labouring skills to carry out maintenance activities on a daily basis.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
  • Sound communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic keyboard skills and experience and competency using technical devices.
  • Current Work Safely in the Construction Industry (White Card).
